Konkeldonk is de toch wel wat negatieve naam voor mijn stad tijdens carnaval. Deze naam dankt de stad aan de burgers van Zwaag die in de jaren zeventig van de vorige eeuw ludiek in opstand kwamen tegen de gemeentelijke herindeling die door het gekonkel van politici in stad en land aan hen werd opgelegd. Die opstand is uitgegroeid tot één van de grotere canvalstoptochten boven de grote rivieren. Vandaag was het weer de dag dat Het Masker samen met groepen als de Pilspiraten en de Biermusketiers door het dorp gingen, ondanks de harde wind die helaas wel voor wat schade aan enkele wagens had gezorgd.
En dat de jaarlijkse pinksterkermis in het dorp onder de jeugd nog steeds leeft, is te zien aan de kinderen die uiteraard voorop gaan…
